The Investigation of the Impacts Upon The Expansion of London Heathrow on Local Communities

The airport is to go under an 18 billion pound transformation, including a new third runway and a creation of two main terminals. London Heathrow LTD (2016) describes the key elements of the plan, the main one being a new runway constructed long enough for the biggest aircraft's in the world to land and take off. A capacity for up to 740,000 flight movements meaning the airport will be in line to compete with international airports along with newer technology creating significant lower noise levels to over 200,000 people. London Heathrow Bosses state how the expansion will create up to 40 new long haul destinations with an advantage of increasing the UK tourism number and trading opportunities will be on the rise. The expansion will come a benefit for passengers with a decrease in flight prices with average seat prices £300 cheaper than Heathrow with two runways. Transfer and connection times will become improved for passengers as a new central terminal area will be created with new facilities for arriving passengers. London Heathrow LTD (2016).
