Hi! I appreciate the thoughtful comments and discussion the week of August 9, 2021 on the Dog Pound motion that was tabled during our July Quarterly Meeting.
At this time, we will be taking a vote on the an amendment to the motion, the motion as amended, and the acceptance of Paul Poncin as our Tresaurer.
As a refresher:
On July 15, 2021, Marisa Adler Vette moved and Paul Poncin Seconded a motion to: Approve an investment from the Alumni Association Board for up to $20,000 for the SCSU Dog Pound, the student athletics fan base, for signage, swag, pre-game tailgate at Homecoming, and bus trip to an away game with tailgate and dinner.
Through email discussion, Diane Moller moved and Joe Jensen seconded a friendly amendment to revise the amount "up to $20,000' to: up to $10,000 for FY 22.
The revision is based on updated estimates from John Brown:
Signage/banners in the Athletics facilities (one-time cost): $600
T-shirts, koozies and rally towels for Dog Pound members (could be recurring): $3,400
Pregame tailgate for Dog Pound at Homecoming (could be recurring): $1,000
Bus trip to road game for qualified members (could be recurring): $5,000
Includes round-trip bus ride, game ticket and pre-game reception at restaurant in visiting team city (Duluth or Grand Forks)
If the amendment passes, the motion as amended will read: Approve an investment from the Alumni Association Board for up to $10,000 for FY 2022 for the SCSU Dog Pound, the student athletics fan base, for signage, swag, pre-game tailgate at Homecoming, and bus trip to an away game with tailgate and dinner.
Paul Poncin was nominated to serve as our Treasurer. The Treasurer works with the Alumni Association office to keep our budget and explore revenue opportunities to fund initiatives like the Dog Pound and for other project/program/event/items identified by the Alumni Association.
