The aim of my project will examine how the Sherlock and the Harry Potter franchise were developed. I will analyse how the producer-audience engagement is a vital part of transmedia storytelling and how it relates to the fans interaction of the text. Next, I will examine the kind of fan-generated material that both fans of the text have created and I will analyse this by discussing how the fandoms of these texts engage with those forms of transmedia. While conducting my research, I will also assess how the producer-audience engagement with the fans of the texts help encourage fan-generated material. Concluding my research, I will be able to determine whether fandoms of both film and television function in a similar or different way when it comes to transmedia storytelling.
