Investigating the Impact of Knowledge Management Processes on Operational Performance when Employees Work Remotely

2022,  South Africa

Managing information-critical processes and tasks via distributed teams must be done efficiently and effectively to

ensure that work can continue, and productivity levels remain high (Delfino & van der Kolk, 2021). Despite staff not

being together in the same office where face-to-face communication and accurate information sharing can freely

occur, remote teams must be able to easily access knowledge bases and remain au courant with the rest of the

organization (Asbari et al, 2021). The risk of not using current, accurate, and practical information in crucial decisionmaking

processes became extremely high in organizations. Therefore, the need to create and preserve knowledge

across the evolving workforce became critical for organizations and employees who work remotely. In exploring the

impact of knowledge management systems on operational performance when employees work remotely, this study

will cover the resolutions for the problems currently faced at organizations and address how implementing an efficient

knowledge management system will align with the resolutions discussed.
