The Why: Essie’s Place has been formed to better understand the Quality of Life(QOL) levels of LGBTIQ2SA+ people in the Shuswap Region. We humbly acknowledge that this work will take place on the lands and territories of First Nations Communities in the Shuswap Region. Further, as allies and/or members of BIPOC and/or additional minority communities, we want to find ways, together, to work equally, equitably with our LGBTIQ2SA+ BIPOC, and/or additional minority communities. Through engaging compassionately, gently and openly, we hope community members will come together to eventually lead work about how to better meet the needs of our community, in all areas affecting their Quality of Life(QOL).
This survey process involves two parts:
1. First complete the questions below
2.When finished this section at the bottom, click the exit button to take you to the next part part of our WHO QOL survey.
We are not collecting any identifying information of any kind in either survey. We are not able to track IP addresses, so we have no way of knowing any information about your internet location. We hope this will help you feel safe enough to answer honestly and as openly as possible.
Thank you SO MUCH for completing this two part survey. This is the first information of its kind gathered about Shuswap Region parents of LGBTIQ2SA+ children and their Quality of Life levels. We are extremely grateful for the support of the Canadian Institutes of Health , who have provided the support needed to complete this research. We have learned a considerable amount about LGBTIQ2SA+ people in the Shuswap Region and their Quality of Life levels. With the input you provide us, we will then be able to create a comprehensive profile of the Quality of Life levels of the Shuswaps LGBTIQ2SA+ people, families, parents and siblings. When we are finished, we will be publicly sharing our findings. We will also be using this information to advocate for improved services for parents and siblings of LGBTIQ2SA+ people who reside in the Shuswap Region.
