The following research study is observing the Coach-Athlete Relationship as it relates to Blackburn College soccer and cross-country teams. This study is examining the relationship at how coaching behaviors can affect an athlete’s psychological well-being in a sport setting. The assessment tool that will be used is the Coach-Athlete Relationship Questionnaire (CART-Q), which will be completed by the coaches.
What I am asking of you, as participants, is to help me in this study by completing the assessment. The CART-Q assessment involves 11 statements with a likert-type scale ranging from 1-10, 1 being “Strongly Disagree” to 10 being “Strongly Agree”. This scale aims to measure the quality and content of the coach-athlete relationship, which the coach completes by personally thinking of the majority of his athletes from his team and how they feel about him, as the coach. The approximate time this should take is 5 minutes.
