Aloha team. Mahalo for offering awesome ideas to rename our Corporate Challenge. We received lots of fun and meaningful contributions. You will notice some contributions include the use of ʻŌlelo Hawaiʻi (Hawaiian language). This is a wonderful way to keep a connection and do our part to ensure that the Hawaiian language continues to reverberate across the honua (world).
Below are some words used you may not be acquainted with, and their definition.
Lauhoe – (literal “many paddles”) To paddle a canoe, together in unison with great strength and resolution Lōkahi – (literal “to obtain oneness”) Unity, unison, harmony. Laulima – (literal “many hands”) Cooperation, teamwork, many hands working together. Hana Hou – (literal “work again”) To do again, repeat, encore Lūʻau – (literal “young taro leaves”) – Modern name for Feast typically with music and hula
Please keep in mind that any new name will start with “Hoewa’a” or "Hoewa'a Dallas" and have the year at the end. These bookend inclusions are a given; we are really looking to vote on the wording that will replace the words Corporate Challenge and be sandwiched in between our club name and the year.
Please see the poll below and select your favorite by July 26. Mahalo for your help!
